Surrey Ladies League Match 3

A meagre turnout in all age groups for our 3rd fixture was disappointing.

The course was over on Farthing Downs, Coulsdon which was very frosty to start with. However, the sun was shining and the frost soon disappeared and with no wind, the Downs warmed up a lot. Leggings were stripped off and replaced by shorts and the race got underway on time.

2 laps and 5.5miles later and the 3 of us had finished. I led the team home in 114th in 41.14, Nicky Atkins 168th in 43.32 and Johanna Gibbons 256th in 49.30 out of 331 athletes in both divisions. In just Division 2, I was 32nd, Nicky 51st and Johanna 95th of 147. So we all did really well in the field.

Just a brave Bridget Langford ran for K&P in the U15 race and she placed 17th of 22 athletes in a race of very experienced runners. Well done to her!

The next,and final, Surrey Ladies League fixture is at West End,Esher,next to Garsons Farm on February 11th,where our Men are also in action.

Don't forget the Stan Belton races on 28th January in Richmond Park(Kingston Gate),at which all our Club Championships are up for grabs……trophies for each age group winner and medals for the first three,as well as running in your school teams.
